Testing the Double Cause Hypothesis for Autoimmune Diseases, Dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine Should be Measured in Plasma or Blood Vessels of Diabetes Type 1?

چکیده

Introduction: The lung surfactant dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) leaks into the blood, settling on luminal aspect of blood vessels to create active hydrophobic spots. Nanobubbles are formed at these spots from dissolved gas. We hypothesized that when a large molecule in comes contact with nanobubble spots, its tertiary structure is disrupted. An exposed epitope may then prompt an autoimmune response. In previous study, plasma DPPC diabetes type 1 was higher 2 samples patients within 1.5 years disease compared 8 others longer time disease. Could represent were formed? Methods: measured 10 controls. Results: diabetic group 1.17 ± 0.27 µg/ml , nonsignificantly than control (1.51 0.42 ). Discussion: Leakage not limiting factor for buildup heart lupus mice contained more mice. Further investigation, should explore content animals. If our hypothesis proved true, it open up considerable therapeutic potential.

Immunotherapy of type 1 diabetes: lessons for other autoimmune diseases

The nonobese diabetic (NOD) mouse is a well-recognised animal model of spontaneous autoimmune insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. The disease is T-cell mediated, involving both CD4 and CD8 cells. Its progress is controlled by a variety of regulatory T cells. An unprecedented number of immunological treatments have been assessed in this mouse strain. This chapter systematically reviews most of ...

Simultaneous Inference: When Should Hypothesis Testing Problems Be Combined?

Modern statisticians are often presented with hundreds or thousands of hypothesis testing problems to evaluate at the same time, generated from new scientific technologies such as microarrays, medical and satellite imaging devices, or flow cytometry counters. The relevant statistical literature tends to begin with the tacit assumption that a single combined analysis, for instance a False Discov...
